2011 The UNEP Risoe Centre on
Energy, Climate and Sustainable Development is expanding activities
related to low carbon development planning and carbon finance. We
therefore have new positions early in 2011 as Experts and Senior
Experts.
The Centre has over the last 20 years
become a leading international research and advisory centre on energy,
climate and sustainable development. We work in close partnership with
UN Environment Program (UNEP) and have project activities in more than
40 developing countries. The Centre collaborates with a large number
of international and especially developing country government and
research institutions. The successful candidates will join an
international team of about 40 professionals in an interdisciplinary
work environment.
Job description
The experts will participate in the
Centre’s international projects, research and analytical programmes,
especially in the areas of:
- Carbon Finance, including activities
such as project management, analytical work development and capacity
building for the application of the Clean Development Mechanism, as
well as in identifying and developing new methodological and project
areas, including programmatic CDM and REDD, bio energy and
transport.
- Mitigation Policy, particularly to
support the development of strategies for national low carbon
development in developing countries to enable preparation and “quick
start” on Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs).
Activities will include analytical work on guidelines for NAMA
development, MRV approaches, and tools for analyzing and
prioritizing mitigation actions.
Qualifications
Candidates for both the Expert and
Senior Expert position require a degree in economics, engineering,
planning, natural science or other relevant discipline, at PhD or
equivalent level. For the senior positions an additional requirement
is several years of working experience in relevant areas and
demonstrated ability to initiate new projects in co-operation with
international institutions. The working language at the Centre is
English.
Terms of employment
Salary: Foreign staff at the
Centre are employed according to the general terms valid for
scientific staff at Risoe, but individual supplements will be
negotiated. The gross monthly salary can be expected to be in the
range of 5000 to 7000 EUR, depending on past experience and
qualifications. Foreign employees with children can in addition to
this receive 4000 EUR yearly per child. Risoe covers moving expenses
up to 3300 EUR, and installation costs (including residence permit's
cost) up to 1300 EUR.
Taxation : Foreign researchers
are taxed under the special 25% Danish tax scheme for foreign experts.
This means that foreign staff pays 25 % tax of the gross salary and a
further 8 % AM-contribution of the salary after tax. The total amount
paid in tax and contribution will thus be approximately 31% of the

Contracts: Contracts are offered
on a two year term with possibility for extensions.
