SEAF LAC was a facility aimed at strengthening the capability of
Latin American and Caribbean countries to analyse and implement
sustainable energy initiatives. The features of the facility are
further described in UNEP's briefing note.
SEAF LAC helped organisations and institutions:
- Integrate energy into overall sustainable development strategies
- Evaluate social, economic and environmental sustainability
aspects of energy choices
- Promote synergies among sustainable energy initiatives
- Strengthen local capabilities to assess and select
environmentally sound technologies
- Support the completion and continuity of sustainable energy
initiatives
The Facility was funded by the German
Federal Ministry for the
Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), and
implemented jointly by URC, UNEP Regional Office for Latin America and
the Caribbean (ROLAC) and the
UNEP Energy Branch.
