UCCEE staff assisted the Wind
Energy Department at Risψ with providing a baseline assessment for the
Zafarana 60 MW wind farm in northwestern Egypt.
Funded
by the Danish Energy Agency,
the project explored some of the key issues
in regard to the assessment of projects under the CDM, namely
baseline-setting, carbon financing, and environmental sustainability.
The project demonstrated
how to apply the existing assessment methods, compare their implications,
and recommend methods and approaches for assessing the baseline, carbon
financing, social costs, and environmental sustainability of wind power
projects.
